ANABIP MISSION STATEMENT:

We believe children are our most precious resource and the future of our communities.  We believe they will achieve the best quality of life when families and communities are learning, practicing and enjoying their traditional culture and language.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Our program relies heavily on our traditional decision making process based on Wet'suwet'en governance, customs, values and laws to care for our children and families.

ANABIP will provide services on a VOLUNTEER BASIS to support families in a CULTURALLY RELEVANT way to the communities of Smithers, Moricetown and Hagwilget.

ANABIP is NOT a Wet'suwet'en Delegated Agency.  Negotiations to reclaim child welfare jurisdiction are ongoing;  Child protection roles and responsibilities will still remain with MCFD.

Where we will work collaboratively with MCFD, ANABIP will also balance community education with direct family work and focusing on a small number of families while we continue to refine our process where we are working closely with cultural experts to ensure ANABIP remains culturally focused. Additionally we will provide community wide cultural education opportunities (workshops, mock ANABIP process etc.).
